Door options
Barn / Sliding Door
A door hung on a track that slides across the wall instead of swinging — so it needs no clearance space in front. A favourite tiny-home space-saver.
Advantages
- No swing space needed — saves ~1m² of floor
- Easy to fit on a wall track
- Characterful look
- Cheaper than a pocket door
Disadvantages
- Needs clear wall beside the opening to slide onto
- Gaps at edges mean less soundproofing/privacy
- Hardware on show

Pocket Door
Slides right into a cavity inside the wall and disappears completely when open. The ultimate space-saver, but it has to be built into the wall.
Advantages
- Saves the most space — fully hidden when open
- Clean, seamless look
- No exposed track
Disadvantages
- Must be built into the wall cavity (plan early)
- Most expensive and most work
- Harder to repair later

Bifold Door
A door that folds in the middle as it opens, halving the clearance a swing door needs. Good for very tight nooks.
Advantages
- Needs only half the swing space
- Cheaper than a pocket door
- Good for narrow openings
Disadvantages
- Hinges/track can feel flimsy if cheap
- Folded door still sits in the opening

External Bathroom Door
Some tiny layouts have the bathroom open directly to the outside (handy for a combined outdoor shower or wet entry). Needs a weather-sealed, insulated exterior door.
Advantages
- Frees interior wall space
- Great with an outdoor shower
- Light and ventilation from outside

- Must be weather-sealed and insulated
- Security and privacy considerations
- Heat loss if poorly sealed
